Power House Youth Ministries is so called because we believe that our house is a house where teens can come and receive power because it is the Lord's House. We seek to empower the teens with every opportunity to reap the rich benefits they have at their disposal due to the shed blood of Jesus Christ. These benefits include the ability to be in this world without partaking in the things of this world (11 Corinthians 10:3), to be an example as our Lord Jesus Christ was while He was here on earth (I Peter 1:16) and to resist the temptation from the evil one (Ephesians 6:16).
Our mission statement is, "to provide every opportunity for the youth of this area to be all that they can be in living a holy life for Jesus Christ." Our programs are organized around the above aims and goals, and they are in the areas listed as follows..
PowerHouse
Meetings for this midweek service take place in our Activity Center, and start at 6:30
p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m. The program includes games, praise and worship, food and good
fellowship. This is a time when the youth can come and enjoy other Christians and worship
the Lord in a setting that is relaxed and conducive to growth.
Power Connection
This is our Sunday School hour that gathers prior to the morning worship service in the
Activity Center at 9:15 a.m.; refreshments are served. Contemporary subjects are tackled,
e.g. pre-marital sex, alcohol and Satanism, to mention a few, as well as issues relating
to adolescence. This class is done in conjunction with our "Parents of Teens"
class so that issues that are relevant to the family are taught at the same time, so as to
encourage family unity.
PowerHour
This is a weekly meeting that is concentrated on Bible study. The study rotates location
between the homes of teens and starts at 6:00 p.m. through till 7:00 p.m. This is a time
where prayer requests are shared and encouragement is drawn from the mighty Word of God.
Teen Music Club
Christian music is available for the teens to loan on CD and
tape.
Special Events
Retreats are organized and they range from ski trips to district level camps especially conducted for the teens on the Joplin District. (Camps are presented on a junior high and senior high level.)
Our outreach to the community takes place through mission oriented projects. Our interests are to reach the local community as well as the national and international communities. This we achieve by taking an annual mission trip.
Annual Events
Our program is supported by sponsors that range from parents to college students, and so doing provides solid role models for our teens.
We hope that teens will find a place like home in Power House, a place where they can come and be refreshed through Christ-like friendships and activities and Biblical teaching.
